Hi All- Chamnan here, Health Hacker RN here with our first health hack!

February is heart health month. Did you know… Heart disease remains to be one of the world’s leading causes of deaths globally (WHO, 2018). Annually, approximately 1 in every 4 deaths (about 610,000 people) in the United States are from heart disease (CDC, 2017).

We can decrease our risks by:

  • Increasing our physical activity

  • Adjusting our eating behaviors

Health hack 1

Move More: Aim for 150 minutes a week or 30 minutes a day for 5 days of physical activity.

  1. Walk when possible
Try getting off one stop earlier or later than the closest stop to your destination; park farther (if you drive) from the entrance.

  2. Take the stairs instead of escalators or elevators.

  3. Schedule a stairs climbing meet-up break with friends or coworkers (you can use this time to run ideas off each other and destress too).

Health hack 2

Mindful eating:

  1. Limit or decrease added salt, sugar, trans fat, and saturated fat.

  2. Eat whole foods (plants & vegetables, fruits, meats, and good fats (i.e avocados, olives, and nuts).
